Reimagined. Better packaged

nextboard® corrugated board from Progroup combines a lower volume and weight with high stability and improved printing and processing properties. Three innovative customer solutions from our packaging partners show how it can be used to produce specific benefits for very different products. As well as having an innovative corrugated board design, these products also conserve resources and satisfy the highest standards of design and functionality.

With the “Packfix 410”, DREI V elevates the tried-and-tested automatic base box to a whole new level. The core element of the packaging is an automatic base whose new locking feet interlock and lock the base when the box is set up – without any of the perforations that are typical in the industry. This increases the level of stability and process reliability and also prevents the box from catching on a conveyor belt or any unauthorised access to the contents. The extended dust flap is designed specifically for the packing robot that removes the packaging without creasing. This means the “Packfix 410” is also suitable for use in fully automatic distribution and logistics centres. A self-adhesive closure and tear strip remain as usual, with the latter in the form of a one-sided perforation with familiar dotted marking. After the box is first opened, it can be resealed via the adjoining lid flaps and returned as return packaging. The box is manufactured from nextboard® corrugated board with a B NG profile. The lower material thickness allows for more packaging per pallet, reduces storage and transport costs, and a high-quality printed image is guaranteed. The packaging is made entirely from corrugated board and so it is fully recyclable.

K2 Verpackungen GmbH & Co. KG

This long-standing Progroup customer and packaging park partner uses almost exclusively nextgeneration® corrugated board to produce its packaging and is very much sold on the benefits of the lightweight sheets. With the “Roadmap 2025” solution, the packaging manufacturer from Offenbach (Queich) shows how the benefits of nextgeneration® corrugated board can also have a real impact with large volumes in particular. Around 1.9 million units of this transport packaging for fastening technology are produced annually. Using nextgeneration® corrugated board has enabled the transport volume to be reduced significantly while retaining the same level of stability. During transportation alone, this delivers a saving of around 13 tonnes of CO² each year. Using the highly efficient containerboard Proliner K as the basis reduced the product’s carbon footprint still further. In total, the latest calculations by K2 Verpackungen suggest a potential saving of around 92 tonnes of CO² each year. “Roadmap 2025” demonstrates how much material efficiency and transport efficiency link together and that environmental benefits also have a real economic impact.

With a lacquered tray in six colours for the food retail trade, this company has developed an eye-catching form of packaging for products that combines functionality with a high-quality design. The tray can be set up cleanly and easily, including in automated fashion, thus enabling efficient packaging processes. The tray is made from nextboard® corrugated board with a B NG profile. The special wavy profile provides a highly uniform surface and therefore the ideal conditions for high-quality flexographic printing. At the same time, the stability of the traditional B-flute is preserved. Precise scoring also ensures clean folds and reliable bonding. Another benefit is that the lower material thickness means more packaging can be transported on one pallet. This makes better use of space on the truck and helps reduce transport costs and resource consumption.
